Kerri Summers – Founder
Kerri founded The Parent Company in 1997 with the mission to provide intelligent, non-judgmental support and advice for working parents.
She has consulted on working parent issues, diversity and retention of talent in a broad range of FTSE 100 companies. Kerri entered the world of the working mother in 1997 when she had her first child. She found it surprisingly difficult, often feeling she lacked the know-how to be the mother she wanted to be and also conflicted about her career going forward. She sought objective help and advice on parenting and balancing her career and found it to be lacking and subjective not to mention laced with judgement about working mothers.
With a London Business School MBA behind her and years of experience in the corporate world at a senior level Kerri founded the Parent Company that same year.
Kerri is committed to continuous professional development, recently supplementing her MBA with an MSc in Psychology. She is a member of the British Psychological Society. In her spare time she is a Trustee for Family Lives, a charity supporting parents and families through a helpline, befriending service and parenting education. She is also a volunteer coach for Parent Gym, a charity providing parenting courses to parents in underprivileged areas of the UK.
Kerri lives in London with her husband and two sons.
“My passion is supporting parents so that they can do the best for themselves and for their children. I see becoming a parent as an opportunity for growth personally and professionally but not all parents see it this way and can feel overwhelmed, under resourced and judged. All of my work is around sharing parenting tools, building self-awareness around what is driving parents’ behaviour and providing them with the resources to thrive in all aspects of their lives.”

Katia Hammerson – Partner
Katia joined Kerri in 2017 to support company growth arising from the increasing demand in the workplace for a more sustainable way to help working parents thrive.
Previously, Katia had worked in corporate finance, consulting and technology companies, with a mining company in between.
Once becoming a mum, Katia embraced all aspects of parenting, realising that this is, in fact, one of the toughest jobs in the world. In order to help other parents get better access to expert advice, Katia partnered with a leading UK paediatrician on a book project for first-time parents and, shortly thereafter, became a Parent Gym volunteer.
Katia believes that having access to expert parenting advice as well as the latest research on what we need to flourish can make a profound difference to family life. Armed with practical knowledge, parents learn how to strike a better and healthier balance between work and family life while building stronger and happier families.
Katia has a degree in Political Science from the University of Rochester (USA), but spent the majority of her working life in the corporate sector.
Katia lives in London with her husband and three children.
“We all want to be the best parents to our children, but so many things can get in the way of that, not least our busy modern lives, heavy workload, our own anxieties and sometimes simply not knowing how best to bring our children up into well-adjusted, confident, empathetic, and successful people. For so many of us, it’s a bit of a shot in the dark. And while that is, to some degree, part and parcel of being a parent, I believe that if we are given the right tools (and get enough sleep), we can all be amazing parents to our gorgeous children”
